How many bottles of wine can be stored in a Spiral Cellar?
1600 maximum for a 3m cellar, please see our cellar options page for all the cellar options. Each module takes up to 24 Bordeaux shaped bottles.

How can I store wine that is in a wooden case?
Standard wooden cases will fit within a module.

Can I store Magnums in a Spiral Cellar?
Yes, under the stairs is the best place to store Magnums.

What size is the trap door?
1500 x 900mm is the structural opening for the trap door.

How does the trap door fit over the cellar?
There is a steel frame that fits into the existing floor and supports the door.

How does the trap door stay open?
A gas strut supports it at right angles.

How long does it take to install a cellar?
A standard installation will be complete within five working days.

Does the cellar require mechanical cooling or heating?
No mechanical cooling or heating is required under normal UK conditions. This is a passive system that will run in the event of a power cut, will require no maintenance and adheres to the Wine Society best practice guidance for storage; cool, humid, vibration free and steady temperature regardless of season.

How are the humidity levels maintained?
With the use of a 1.5mm thick butyl liner, the environment inside the cellar is watertight. Air changes from the passive vent system ensures air movement whilst also maintaining high humidity levels.

Can you install a cellar in a building with a block and beam floor?
Yes, this is possible.

How close to the foundations can you go?
We can excavate almost adjacent to any foundations, but a reinforced concrete ring will be used. Our engineers will perform the necessary calculations and specify the required thickness of the ring.
