Our LED-lit Spiral
Cellars are part
art installation.

Crafted from engineered limestone concrete, the ingenious design can work almost anywhere, without the need for an existing basement or cellar.

Our spiral wine cellars can be installed in less than 5 days with minimum upheaval.

It’s more than a place to keep your collection. A spiral wine cellar is a portal to the extraordinary. A descending, winding wonder beneath your feet; a triumph of engineering and design that will keep every bottle cool and at its finest … making choosing that perfect wine the best part of your day.

The perfect conditions for your wine to thrive.

There’s nothing like the pleasure of a well-cellared wine. And our Spiral Cellar is designed to create the optimal conditions for each bottle to be enjoyed at its best.

Spiral Cellars are fitted with a discreet climate control system that circulates cool air throughout the cellar to achieve and maintain ideal temperature and humidity conditions. The internal unit is connected to a small condenser typically housed within an adjacent garage or plant.

Net result is no more premature ageing or oxidation from dried-out corks. No vibration to disturb the delicate ageing process. No risk of wine breaking down. Just pure cellaring perfection.

pipe work option 2

A waterproof structural concrete box is installed by your contractor.

Inside the cellar, the cooled water is used to cool air which is then distributed through the cellar via a fan unit, ensuring your wines are stored at the optimum temperature.

The concrete modules and steps interlock.

The fan unit is concealed behind a bespoke cover plate and positioned discretely underneath the stairs to reduce visibility from above.

Cooled water is transported between the chiller unit and the cellar via insulated pipework buried beneath the slab. To achieve optimum cooling, the Spiral Cellar should be positioned within 12m of the proposed chiller location.

A reinforced concrete base keeps everything in position and ensures your existing foundations won’t be affected.

Understep and floor ring LED lighting.

The climate control is powered by a chiller unit which is housed outside of the cellar, usually sited within a nearby plant room or garage. If you cannot find a suitable location for the chiller, we can advise on alternative locations and solutions.

Choice of cellar door.

“Given my line of work, it’s imperative for me to keep wine in professional but easily accessible cellaring conditions at home. That’s why I chose to have a Spiral Cellar installed. I really couldn’t do my job without it”

Tim Atkin MW, Journalist and Wine Writer

Choose your colour

The Spiral Cellar comes in two colourways: Limestone White for a crisp, contemporary feel, and Pebble Grey for a more urban look. You can also have the spaces between cellar bins filled or left open – depending on whether you prefer a polished or more rustic style.

Choose your cellar depth

Make space for your love of wine to grow. When you’re thinking about the size of your Spiral Cellar, in our experience it’s always better to go slightly bigger than you think you’ll need.

Even if your collection is modest now, you’ll be surprised how quickly it grows once you have the space. Available in 2m and 2.5m depths, we recommend the 2.5m option if you are 180cm or taller as it will provide a comfortable amount of headroom.

All cellars have an excavation diameter of 2.5m.

2m deep 40 bins ideal for 200 – 1000 bottles
2.5m deep 52 bins ideal for 300 – 1300 bottles

LED lighting

All Spiral Cellars include LED lights at the top, at the base and under each step to enhance the overall look with crisp, clear, even light. LEDs have the added benefit of giving off less heat than standard light bulbs, which helps maintain the ambient temperature within the cellar.

FAQs

How are your cellars cooled?

All of our cellars are fitted with a water cooled climate control system to ensure your wines are stored at the optimum temperature. We will work with your contractor to design and plan locations for the external chiller unit which is normally best housed in a plant room or garage space. Our registered climate control installer will then complete the installation at the same time as the cellar is installed.

How do you deal with high water tables?

Our cellars are typically not deep enough to extend below the water table in Dubai, however all of our cellars are installed within a waterproof structural concrete box. This ensures there is no risk of water ingress or uplift.

What if I have running sand in the area?

The structural concrete box has the capacity to resist loading from adjacent sand. We will work with your contractor and engineer to provide advice on the design and installation of the box prior to the cellar installation, taking into consideration any local geotechnical conditions.

Our engineer has suggested that the property foundations will need to be underpinned or taken as deep as the cellar.

You don’t need to worry about adapting or enhancing existing or planned foundations. All of our cellars are installed within a structural concrete box which will have the capacity to resist loadings from adjacent foundations. We will work with your contractor and engineer to provide advice on the design and installation of the box prior to the cellar installation.

How is the approvals and regulations process managed?

We will work with your contractor to ensure that all necessary approvals and regulations are obtained for the installation of the cellar.

I’m specifying a cellar for my client. How can I find out more about the installation details?

We have a technical manual specially designed for trade professionals. Alternatively, we offer a RIBA and BIID approved CPD seminar that outlines the technical structure of the cellar and details the installation process.
